We like to take a weekend now and then a scoot out on Friday to head to Cherokee Mountain for a camping weekend and a little casino time. The first time we went to Holiday Park campground we took 19 through Maggie Valley, NC only to discover that is not safe for an RV. The road whipped around the mountain on a steady dowhill incline. When we finally arrived at the Campground the gatekeeper told us we were lucky we didn't burn out our brakes.

Tom and I took our first driving vacation really far from just outside of Chicago to Torrington Wyoming with some stops along the way.
Janesville Wisconsin, Rochester Minnesota, Dell Rapids - The Bad Lands - Wall Drug - Keystone, Sturgis - Deadwood - South Dakota and then to Wyoming for Devils Tower and down to Torrington.
The trip was great having nearly two weeks off just the 2 of us in a compact jeep piled high with suit cases and golf clubs. We stayed in Hotels along the way where ever the wind blew us.
And along the road we discovered something... we like to be on the road. So many years passed and we always talked about buying a camper. A relative of a friend had one for sale in 2006 and we finally said let's buy it. The rest is history.
